In the fall of 2014, PRSSA of WSU officially launched Murrow Public Relations – PRSSA’s first student-run firm – providing hands-on public relations training and leadership experience to members. In the fall of 2020, MPR will re-launch in a partnership with WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). This provides students the opportunity to work with the community while gaining hands-on experience and community service hours.

Those involved in the student-run firm learn how to complete a variety of public relations tasks, including meeting with clients, creating action plans, and functioning as representatives of organizations.

Under the guidance of the Chapter Vice President, student senior account representatives manage accounts and maintain relationships with representatives from the organization.

All work is rooted in experiential learning, and services are offered to clients on both paid and pro bono basis. Each client is appointed a senior account manager and small team of account reps to manage their account. Clients are typically from the region and include other registered student organizations (RSO) at WSU, locally owned small business, nonprofit organizations and entrepreneurial endeavors.

If you are interested in learning more about MPR – to serve as a senior account manager, account representative or to pitch your own idea – please email

“Starting or participating in a student-run firm is a great way to build your resume and portfolio, apply what you’ve learned in class, and gain hands-on experience while you are still a student. Through a student-run firm, you have the opportunity to work with real clients to learn effective time-management skills in the process of developing and implementing campaigns.”
